Why do so many of us avoid our mental health, even when we need support?
You may have your reasons; family or work priorities, not enough time, perhaps even stigma around accessing the help you need. It’s understandable to want to keep going and push through until you feel better.
But if you don’t make time for your mental health now, you may be forced to later.
Your mental health is affected by factors in your everyday life, such as the stress of balancing work with your health and relationships. Mental health is the collection of emotions, thoughts, feelings, and sense of resiliency in managing your everyday life activities.
It’s not surprising then that mood and anxiety disorders make up one of the biggest health risks facing Ontarians today, and account for the leading cause of disability in working age adults.
How do we make mental health a priority?
It’s not about getting it perfect; it’s about getting started. One step at a time.
