This year marks an important milestone for Ontario’s education workers and their families. The ETFO Employee Life and Health Trust is celebrating 10 years of helping members access the health, dental and life insurance benefits and support they rely on.

Established in 2016, the ETFO ELHT was created to provide stable, reliable benefit coverage and has continued to adapt.

Together, the ETFO ELHT and OTIP have supported members by:

• Protecting long-term benefit funding through plan changes and programs such as MemberRx, which helps members access specialty medications and/or complex care.
• Adapting benefits and services (e.g. expanded mental health practitioner and paramedical coverage and gender-affirming care benefits) while making effective use of available funding.
• Expanding access to mental health and women’s health resources, including Starling Minds, educational webinars and practical tools.
• Introducing and improving systems, processes and digital services—including a modernized phone system, mobile app, live chat and My Member Account, so members have a more reliable and convenient experience.

By listening to members and advocating for their needs, the ETFO ELHT has responded to new challenges —from the COVID-19 pandemic to more complex care—while using funding responsibly.

This anniversary celebrates that progress and reaffirms the trust’s commitment to sustainable benefits and member-focused support.
